Then sometimes that would go too far. Then I’d get it right and halfway through the page it would start doing it again. Unfortunately, I forgot about that experience and, being busy with work, didn’t have time for Kindle until recently. When I ordered another book, this time on Python, it was the same wretched experience. I gave up on it a few times, then came back because I already paid for the book and was determined to get through it.

Electronic books have changed the public's reading habits, and millions worldwide now read books, magazines, and other content on handheld readers like Amazon's Kindle. A lot of work went into making Kindle as book-like as possible while still preserving the advantages of an electronic device, such as a customizable interface, variable type size, notes, data storage, and more. Melusine of Trenton great app, except for the crashing A while back, the Kindle app on my Macbook started crashing every time I tried to open it. I tried closing and restarting it, reinstalling it, then a full uninstall/re-download/reinstall, checked for viruses, power-cycled my Mac, etc. — that is, I did all the things that one does when this sort of problem comes up. It clearly was not the sort of problem that’s easily fixed. Of course, because it was caused not by a problem on my end but by a flaw that hasn’t been addressed. This was a predictable problem — it’s been well known for some time that the switch to 64-bit would affect certain types of software.

I first noticed this issue yesterday while on my Macbook Pro (macOS Sierra 10.12). An internet search uncovered this forum, where it was recommended that I contact Amazon Support, which I did. Despite the fact that the choices offered to narrow down one's ultimate issue are somewhat vague and general, the support tech did his best to try and find out more about the problem, which he verified and consoled me that it had, in fact, been elevated and would hopefully soon be remedied. I'm now on my Windows 7 desktop, where I recently attempted to send a small rtf file via Send To Kindle. I did not encounter the error message from yesterday, so I presumed the issue had been fixed. However, on enabling WiFi on my 7th gen Paperwhite the 'sent' file was nowhere to be found. While I admit that I'm a bit disappointed in this feature I've come to rely on, I was able to successfully send via email a similar rtf file as an attachment to my kindle address.

Click the 'Register a Kindle' link in the sidebar and enter the serial number to tie it to your account. Amazon can now use this to apply the necessary DRM to your purchases that will allow them to be read on the device. Now, having found a book you want to buy, instead of delivering it straight to the registered Kindle, pick 'Transfer via Computer' on the 'Deliver to' pop-up menu.

You can capture your Kindle's screen display at any time by holding shift and alt while briefly pressing 'G' on its keyboard. Grabs are saved in.gif format and given the prefix 'screen_shot'. If you've connected your Kindle to your computer before, you may spot some other folders alongside these three defaults, particularly if you have used a management tool such as Calibre, which leaves small metadata files behind it. Sort the files in the documents folder according to type. If you're using Windows 7, the easiest way to do this is by clicking the drop-down menu on the right-hand side of the Type column header. From this, select AZW to filter out all of the non-book files.

If I’m out and stuck waiting, I just use my phone to start reading where I left off the night before on my iPad. The Kindle App will ask if you’d like whatever device you’re using synced with the last page read on the other device. Another advantage to using the Kindle App on an Apple device is how easy it is to Google anything you want as you read. So when you highlight a word, name or phrase, the App offers a dictionary as well as a Google search. If I want an image of a location or piece of history, it right there.

Then I’d give up again. It is infuriating to try to learn something while your app can’t stay on the intended page and 2/3 of your learning time is getting annoyed and fighting the program just to keep the page. I hate to buy the books twice because I obviously can only do this with the hard copy now (with the added inconvenience of not having the reference on the screen next to what I’m working on). I love Kindle and Audible and I hate to give it a bad review but on Mac, this app is garbage.

An ungraded version of the app should have been ready at the time of the OS upgrade, or at the very least there should have been a rapid response after they started getting complaints about the problems they were having. (Other reviews have made it abundantly clear that I’m far from the only one having problems with the Kindle/MacOS app due to this.

She is very tactful in how she plots her control, but I don’t think psychotherapy for a narcissistic mother is effective.
